Announcement As Newlyweds Introduction Element

Announcement as newlyweds


The Announcement element of the wedding ceremony is given at the end of the ceremony when the newly wedded couple is introduced to the guests, by the Officiant, using their new married name.

The Minister may turn to the guests and present the couple, saying; “It is with great honor I present to you Mr. And Mrs._________”.  At this point the guests stand and applaud, as the couple then lead the recessional out.

This is not to be confused with the Pronouncement element when the officiant gives the declaration of the couple as officially married.

The formatting of the name for the Announcement should be agreed upon in advance to ensure that the personal preferences of the couple are honored. The details of the name announcement will vary since some Brides choose to take the Groom's last name and others do not. There are other variables regarding the newlyweds choice in how they would like to be addressed, so be sure to confirm this element in detail with the couple in advance.

Below are some examples of the Announcement Element of the Wedding Ceremony:

Ladies and Gentlemen, it is my honor to present to you for the first time, Mr. and Mrs. John Smith.
Announcement as Newlyweds
I present to you the newly married couple, Jane and John.
Announcement as Newlyweds
Honored Guests, I now present to you Mr. and Mrs. John Smith.
Announcement as Newlyweds
I now present to you Mr. and Mrs. John and Jane Smith.
Announcement as Newlyweds
Ladies and Gentlemen, I now present to you Mr. and Mrs. John Smith and Jane Jones-Smith.
Announcement as Newlyweds
I now present Mr. and Mrs. John Smith and Jane Jones.
Announcement as Newlyweds
It is my honor to present to you Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
Announcement as Newlyweds
It is with great honor I present to you Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
Announcement as Newlyweds
I introduce to you Mr. and Mrs. John Smith.
Announcement as Newlyweds
Friends and loved ones it is with much honor that I introduce to you for the first time Mr. and Mrs. John Smith.
Announcement as Newlyweds
For Elopement couples with no guests, in states with no witness required, the announcement can be omitted or the officiant/minister may choose to say;  It is my honor to be the first to address you as Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Congratulations!
